Job Title: Helicopter Engineer Trainee
Job Summary
Heli Air is looking to recruit enthusiastic new members to its helicopter engineering team, who would like to take their first steps towards becoming a licensed helicopter engineer. The candidate will have the chance to work in a helicopter engineering environment learning what it takes to maintain the largest light aviation fleet in the UK, whilst training towards becoming a qualified licensed helicopter engineer. Our experienced managers will provide you with on the job training whilst guiding you through the periodic examinations process on your way to becoming qualified. This is a program which rewards your sustained progress towards your license with incremental remuneration increases, as you are able to complete more tasks for company.
The role is 5 days a week based predominately on Monday to Friday work from 08:30 to 17:00. However, applicants must expect to occasionally be asked to cover at the weekends or overtime during busy periods.

Responsibilities and Duties
Though it is a varied role, some of the main functions within this role are as follows:
- Aircraft maintenance inspections
- Aircraft component replacement
- Component requests from our in house stores department
- Assistance in the daily upkeep of the workshop and hangar
- Assistance in the daily upkeep of customers’ aircraft
- Aircraft refuelling
- Fuel sampling and verification
- Aircraft ground movement
- Home study towards Part 66 examinations
- Safety training & reporting
Heli Air also funds a study week prior to examinations taking place, giving you the best chance of achieving your goals on your way to becoming qualified.
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate will need to be a friendly, enthusiastic person who has a keen interest in aviation engineering, and at the beginning of their aviation career. The candidate will be well spoken with good attention to detail, and the ability to work well within a team in order to provide a smooth and professional service to Heli Air’s customers and the engineering team. Ideally the candidate will also have a:
- Strong work ethic
- Desire to learn and improve their understanding of their role
- Grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths and Physics/Science
- Friendly and polite manner
